Jean Brashear knows a lot about taking crazy chances. A lifelong avid reader, at the age of forty-five with no experience and no training, she decided to see if she could write a book. It was a wild leap that turned her whole life upside down, but she would tell you that though she’s never been more terrified, she’s never felt more exhilarated or more alive. She’s an ardent proponent of not putting off your dreams until that elusive ‘someday’—take that leap now.

Jean sold her first book two years after she began writing and with her debut release, THE BODYGUARD’S BRIDE, she was selected as the 1998 Special Edition “Woman to Watch” by Silhouette Books. A 2003 RITA finalist as well as nominee for a Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Award, her books have finaled for or won numerous other awards including the Golden Quill, Notable New Author, Holt Medallion and Colorado Award for Excellence. Her first book won the 1998 Reviewers’ Choice Award for Best First Series Romance from Romantic Times magazine and was accorded Honorable Mention in a tie with Susan Elizabeth Phillips for the Top Contemporary Romance of 1998 named by an association of industry reviewers, the only series romance on a list with Phillips, Nora Roberts, Kathleen Eagle, JoAnn Ross and Jennifer Crusie.

Jean has sold magazine articles and a screen treatment for an animated film and been hired to teach a seminar for the animation artists on character and story development. She continues to pursue her interest in various forms of writing, including mainstream women’s fiction and mainstream romantic suspense.

Other speaking engagements have included the Romantic Times Convention and the Romance Writers of America National Conference. She also talks to local groups on the life of a writer and was profiled on the Internet as a model for unpublished authors, before selling her first book. She is president-elect of Novelists Inc., an international, multi-genre organization of published writers of popular fiction.

A true believer in romance, Jean wants to give today’s reader—juggling diverse responsibilities from carpools to critical care, grocery lists to corporate mergers—great stories that will recharge the batteries, warm the heart, and fire the imagination. Jean invites readers to journey with her into the worlds inside her mind—worlds where the ruling passion is the power of love?the magic that makes any life a grand adventure.
