The Aussie Millions is underway, with many players coming up winners in the preliminary events – including sanghoki Alex Luck. The perennial popularity of poker has even attracted the glitz of Hollywood, with a number of stars touching down in Australia to get ready for the main event.
Shannon Elizabeth of American Pie fame has been known to move around the tournament circuit, and she has already hit the tables at the Crown Casino, Melbourne. Cashing in several events around the world so far, Elizabeth will definitely be a threat at the tables on monday.
Also spotted in Melbourne was Phil Laak and his partner, actress Jennifer Tilly, also a poker player. Is poker more popular than Hollywood? Laak has been recognized by fans faster than Tilly!
Finally, tennis star Andy Roddick is also down under for a chance to play at the tables when away from the courts at the Australian Open Championships. CarbonPoker team will also be at the Aussie Millions, so we’ll try and have some happy snaps of all the biggest names, including our own online qualifiers!
First chips fly, our players profit
The first few hands have been dealt, and miw420 is already up to 25,000. An opponent in early position raised and miw420 made it 1200 to go. One played called, and the flop came down 6 9 3 rainbow. miw420 bet out 2000 and was met with a fold. A nice pot for the first hand of the day!
lennie10 is also up to 23,000 chips early, and bartyuk is up to 22,000. pelicancruse has lost 500, but this certainly isn’t a cause for concern so early in the day.
Great start to the day, while Lee Nelson and Kenny Ng are up to 30,000 and 32,000 chips respectively.
More to come.
